Description

The Queen's Crowns

Queen Elizabeth I reigned for 45 years, during which many likenesses were made of her on canvas, coins, and engravings. In all of these she wore various headdresses and crowns, which were eventually destroyed by Oliver Cromwell in 1649. However, her pearl earrings survived and are suspended in the famous Imperial Crown of State today. Because she saw England through an era that was considered one of its most glorious, she was sometimes referred to as "Good Queen Bess," "The Virgin Queen," and "Gloriana."

This design is not meant to depict what her crowns or headpieces looked like, but it is meant to be a tribute to her majesty, Queen Elizabeth I.

Model: stitched on 36ct Vintage Maritime linen

Stitch Count: 196W x 138H
