Description

Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace

The Regency-styled Wayne-Gordon House was built for Savannah, Georgia Mayor James Moore Wayne in 1818. In 1831 Wayne sold the house to his niece and her husband, William
Washington Gordon. It was in this house that Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girls
Scouts was born on Halloween, 1860. The Gordon family lived in the house until it was
purchased by the Girl Scouts in 1953.
The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace is a memorial to the founder and serves as a national
program center for Girl Scouts. It also provides an introduction to life in the late 1800's.
