This particular old sampler was from the latter half of the 1800’s, and was almost entirely stitched in bands and sections of patterns and vines. I wanted to stitch a sampler that wasn’t so heavy on lettering and quotes, instead focusing on repeated patterned bands. The type of bands that could be used to decorate linens and frocks, and to otherwise make regular household items more appealing.
